Presentations lobbying European authorities to change current thinking on the classification of cannabinoids as novel foods were well received, according to an industry representative.
The UK Cannabis Trades Association (CTA) and the European International Hemp Association (EIHA) both sought to convince the Working Group on Novel Foods of the European Commission that its current guidance, saying cannabinoids would need to undergo authorisation as a history of consumption prior to 1997 had not been demonstrated, was wrong.
