British American Tobacco (BAT) entered the CBD market with the launch of a CBD e-liquid cartridge compatible with its Vuse vaping device.

The launch of the Vuse CBD Zone marks the first CBD product from a major tobacco company, which was a massive development for CBD.
Many long-time industry advocates will see this as a negative step and one that others may soon follow.

But though many might not like the move from a business perspective – indicative as it is of greater competition with well-funded newcomers as well as the potential for hostile takeovers – it could also be viewed as a sign that CBD has properly arrived in the mainstream’s consciousness.

From a consumer perspective, long-term users may be offended by the connotations of a Big Tobacco company producing a health/wellness product. But BAT is unlikely to be considering such users as a target demographic.
