So far so good, but German lawmakers urged to go further on medical cannabis

Five years after German patients were first allowed to obtain medical cannabis, demand has risen sharply but there are still some unanswered issues on policy and practice that lobbyists want addressed.

A unanimous decision by lawmakers in the Bundestag permitted doctors to prescribe medical cannabis from 10th March 2017. “The law was a big step forward, but now it is time for improvements,” said Armin Prasch, a board member of Germany’s Cannabis Business Industry Association (Branchenverband Cannabiswirtschaft, BvCW).
