New York’s new law could offer some liberty for local hemp producers

Hemp companies are poised to benefit from a new law in New York put forward to help ease supply issues that have often occurred when a state has opened up a legal recreational cannabis market.

On 22nd February New York governor Kathy Hochul (Democrat) signed legislation creating a Conditional Adult-use Cannabis Cultivator licence. The law allows existing New York hemp farmers to apply for a conditional licence to grow cannabis in the 2022 growing season in anticipation of the upcoming adult-use recreational cannabis market
