Gloomy US outlook for CBD production as regulatory uncertainty strangles farms

A lack of regulatory clarity is the primary reason behind a predicted dramatic fall in hemp acreage dedicated to the production of CBD in the US.

The National Industrial Hemp Council (NIHC) forecast that the percentage of total hemp-growing area dedicated to cannabinoids will fall from an estimated 82% in 2020 to only 2.8% by 2030, with production for fibre and seeds rising to take the rest.
