Thailand: MP Supachai Jaisamut of the Bhumjaithai Party, who has pushed cannabis legalisation, said the committee vetting the cannabis and hemp bill should be finished by August and does not anticipate any delays, press reports. The committee will also seek input from the public to improve the bill.

Indonesia: Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, has floated the idea of a study on the legalisation of medical cannabis, press reports. Dasco said his party, Gerindra (Great Indonesia Movement), would cooperate with the Ministry of Health to conduct the study.

Thailand: Prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has banned the use of cannabis and hemp on military bases, press reports. Military personnel are allowed to use cannabis for medical purposes only.

Thailand: A bill has been introduced that would limit the number of cannabis plants that can be grown at home to ten and would impose progressive levies and regulations depending on the size of the cultivation area for larger-scale operations, press reports. Even those who grow small amounts for personal medical use would be subject to the regulation as operators of small plantations under the bill.

Indonesia: The head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has said the legalisation of cannabis, either for medicinal or recreational purposes, is not being considered in Indonesia, press reports. Petrus Reinhard Golose said he remained “consistent” in not discussing the matter.

Thailand: The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) has banned the sale of food and drinks containing and the use of cannabis products on university campuses and on the grounds of agencies under Public Health Ministry supervision, press reports.

Thailand: The Department of Health has issued guidelines to businesses on the use of cannabis as a food additive for businesses, media reports. Markets, restaurants and other food outlets are required to display clearly if cannabis is being used as an additive, display a list of dishes that include cannabis and the number of cannabis leaves used in each dish, and to display safety recommendations on their consumption.

Hong Kong: Law enforcement authorities have proposed banning CBD products before the end of the year after finding that a third of such items sold in the city contained traces of THC. Retailers argue that they should be allowed to sell CBD products that have undergone laboratory testing and are verified safe for use.

Thailand: The Public Health Ministry has issued a ban on the sales of cannabis to breast-feeding mothers, pregnant women, and anyone under the age of 20, press reports. Details about the country’s legalisation of cannabis continue to trickle out, but no regulations have been passed yet. Cannabis was decriminalised on 9th June, but extracts are limited to 0.2% THC.
