French warnings over ‘stores likely to be selling illegal products’

Judicial bodies in France have issued statements intended to clarify the national legal framework for products containing cannabidiol (CBD) and asked local enforcement authorities to ensure compliance with current legislation.

They include a memo from the public prosecutor in Dijon – capital of the Burgundy region – warning about the opening of new CBD stores in the city that could be “likely to sell allegedly illegal cannabis products”.

The document, signed by prosecutor Eric Mathias, is a reminder that under the French Public Health Code the production, manufacture, transport, import, export, possession, acquisition or use of cannabis is prohibited.
