Data gaps in EU novel food applications will be difficult, slow and costly to fill

CBD companies say they do not know when or even how they will be able to provide the missing data that has caused the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to pause the clock on assessing CBD novel food applications.

In total 19 applications have been validated by EFSA but the applicants have now been asked to provide some further information to fill in gaps detected by the authority’s expert panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA).
